A passionate and energetic traveler who enjoys exploring remote places and organizing trips.
Since I was a child, I have been fascinated by traveling, the adventure of discovering remote, new, and different places. I am passionate about the sea, nature, and other cultures. After several years working as a dive guide in places like Egypt and Indonesia, I now find myself back in Barcelona. However, I spend my days daydreaming and designing trips, and from this, the Mapeatuviaje project was born.
You are most likely to find me reading adventure books, taking photos of tiny things underwater, struggling with some technological gadget, or giving travel advice to a friend.
Read the reviews from travelers who went with me on an expedition.
After many years of traveling the world, this has been the most local and immersive cultural journey I have ever had. I knew about Mapea Tu Viaje, but had never traveled with them until now, and giving them a chance was undoubtedly the best decision of 2024. The entire trip was meticulously organized, yet allowed for plenty of free time and alternatives tailored to individual preferences, which could be adjusted on the go without affecting the group itinerary. We started in Dakar and traveled down to the southern tip near the Guinea border, stopping at some of the best exotic and pristine sites one can find. We visited charming villages, enchanting towns, and immersed ourselves in local cultures. We learned to play African drums in a class, harvested oysters in the most natural way with local Senegalese women—a truly enriching experience. Working alongside them, walking through mangroves, and later enjoying a BBQ of oysters together under the stars with music made the experience even more special! Driving your own car through Africa allows you to feel the country's vibrations firsthand, a truly magical experience. Engaging in local activities like witnessing an African wrestling match, something unique not offered by any specialized travel agency in Africa, was truly unforgettable and I would do it again without hesitation. Mapea Tu Viaje had everything so well organized that crossing borders was easy and hassle-free, with everyone being friendly and helpful, which made a big difference. As for the food, while seafood predominated and meat was scarce in the area, we enjoyed variety in some places that offered local dishes with vegetables and even pasta—quite different from what one might expect in a developing country. After the trip, my perception of Senegal, its culture, and its people has completely changed—a 360-degree shift from when I first arrived. Safety was never a concern; instead, there was always a sense of helpfulness and hospitality. Speaking French did make things more comfortable and ensured better responses, but Mapea Tu Viaje provided two expert interpreters who were always there to assist whenever English wasn't sufficient—a true luxury! I'm eagerly looking forward to joining another trip they organize next year. The way of traveling, the non-touristy activities, and the connection with local culture are opportunities that tourists typically don't get to experience. I highly recommend traveling with Mapea Tu Viaje.
